FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

(AKA HELP!)

I can only attend one day. Which day should I go?

We highly encourage everyone to join us for the whole weekend, since we’ve curated the weekend activities to all build on each other for a full experience! But we understand that time is limited and sometimes only one day is an option. Here’s a quick Cheat Sheet of each day:

SATURDAY 10/5/19

This is the main summit day! We kick off the weekend with energetic lightning talks, an Arroz Caldo bar breakfast, 2 Workshops, 3 Panels, Lunch, and lots of interactive activities throughout. We’ll also have a quiet Journal Lounge for those who need to get away and reflect. We then wrap up the night with an official Afterparty at our local Karaoke joint with all pinay DJs. Let’s get our body roll on.

SUNDAY 10/6/19

This day is all about going in depth, and reflecting. Everyone chooses ONE workshop to attend that is between 1.5-3 hours long. Workshops will be hosted at 4 different locations around San Francisco. After your workshop is over, head over to the Pulutan Party & Closing Circle at Covo (981 Mission St, SF). All workshop venues except for 1 (the Entrepinays Hike) are less than 3 blocks away from Covo so we’ll plan to walk together. Have some drinks, eat some pulutan, and celebrate new connects you’ve made. We’ll officially close out our circle for the weekend.

I can’t afford to attend, but really really want to. Can you help?

Yes! We built Entrepinays Summit for our beautiful pinay community, and we don’t want money to be the reason you don’t attend. Email info@entrepinays.com if you’d like to request financial assistance. We want anyone who wants to come to the summit to be there!

I’m Queer/LGBTIA+/Gender Nonconforming. Can I come?

Yes! We welcome all LGBTQ and Gender Nonconforming people at our event. All restrooms at the Saturday Bespoke event space will be gender inclusive for the day. For Sunday, there are various workshop locations, but at the Pulutan Party venue, Covo, there are male, female, and single stall gender inclusive bathrooms available.

Is there a Mother’s Room?

Yes! On Saturday, it will be shared with the Performer Green Room, but will have a fridge and a comfy chair in there for you for privacy. On Sunday, we’ll have a dedicated Mother’s Room at the Pulutan Party.

Can I bring my baby/infant/child?

Yes! We encourage you to come and be fully present with the summit and focus on you and your growth, but understand that circumstances sometimes don’t allow for that to happen. We want you to be present however you can make it! Please note that we don’t have child care onsite, but we welcome both you and your baby or young infant.

Older children are also encouraged to attend with proper adult supervision. Email us at info@entrepinays.com for questions about special youth tickets.

What should I wear?

Let’s keep it real — This is NOT a fashion show. YES, come as your fly pinay self, but remember that being a Fly Pinay means different things to different people.

If you feel fly in your Adidas track pants and tshirt – do it. If you feel fly in your Lola’s mumu – do it. Whatever your heart says to put on in the morning, please listen. We want to see you how you are! And if anything you can cop some BRWNGRLZ earrings at the event 😉

Will there be Coat Check?

Yes, and it’s complimentary 🙂

What should I bring with me?

Suggested items to bring:

  • A PHOTO for our altar of a womxn you want to call into the room for the day (you’ll take it home after) – SATURDAY ONLY
  • a notebook/journal
  • pen
  • jacket/shawl in case you get cold inside
  • fan in case you get hot haha
  • tissues or handkerchief for tears (no joke…)
  • business cards!

I don’t like surprises. What can I expect?

Well, we can’t promise ZERO surprises 😉 But here’s a list of some of the activities you can expect:

  • A quiet Journal Lounge where you can pause and reflect and have some quiet time
  • Various types of seating in all the rooms
  • Delicious food catered by Entrepinay chefs
  • An art exhibit by Pretty in the Chaos
  • Say Ya! Photobooth!
  • Space for you to share ideas, fears, and resources
  • Possibly a video confessional (ala Real World)!!
