What is the Pinayista Summit?

A daylong gathering of Pinay entrepreneurs and creative solopreneurs filled with speaker panels, interactive workshops, and meaningful connections.

This will be our 5th Annual Summit in 2025.

Who is it for?

  • Self-identified Pinay entrepreneurs & creative solopreneurs looking to build community and get support.

  • Aspiring Pinays looking to start a business

  • Any Pinay who wants to learn, teach, actively build, and connect with other Pinays.

  • LGBTQIA+ and gender non-conforming Pinays/Pinxys are welcome

Community Panels

Real talk conversations on topics that matter to our community – from decolonizing leadership to navigating cultural expectations while building businesses.

Interactive Workshops

Hands-on sessions led by Pinay experts covering everything from scaling your business to wellness practices. These aren’t lecture-style – expect collaboration, activities, and takeaways.

Merkado Marketplace

Shop from Pinay-owned businesses and discover new brands created by our community members. It’s networking with a purpose.

Networking & Community

From structured meetups to spontaneous conversations, Summit creates space for the connections that turn into collaborations, friendships, and business partnerships.

Party!

Summit is not all about serious business – it’s time to let loose, relax, and unwind with your fellow Pinays. Dancing, crying, and karaoke are frequently found together.

Co-founded by Pinay entrepreneur and visionary, Cecilia Apelin, Ciel Creative Space is an artistic sanctuary in the East Bay for creative minds to explore, collaborate, and co-exist.

With Cecilia’s deep understanding of the creative industry and production, and Alexis’ expertise in designing and building successful beautiful spaces, their combined knowledge provides a unique offering with thoughtful design and engineering that offers world-class necessities to a variety of teams in the fashion, tech, art and entertainment communities, and encompasses all that is needed to create freely.

How to get there:

Address: 2611 Eighth St, Berkeley, CA 94710

BART: The closest BART stations are Ashby and Downtown Berkeley. Both are ~7-8 minutes rideshare to the venue. 

PARKING: There is plenty of street parking around the venue. Make sure to read the parking signs, and don’t leave anything valuable or visible in the car.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

(AKA HELP!)

I can't afford to attend, but really really want to. Can you help?

Yes! We built Summit for our beautiful Pinay community, and we don’t want money to be the reason you don’t attend. Email summit@pinayista.org if you’d like to request financial assistance.

I'm Queer/LGBTIA+/Gender Nonconforming. Can I come?

Yes! We welcome all LGBTQ and gender nonconforming people at our event. All restrooms at Summit will be gender inclusive for the day.

Is there a Mother's Room?

Yes! There will be a private room that can be used by mamas to pump which will have access to a nearby fridge and a comfy chair. Please ask a staff member to get access.

Can I bring my baby/infant/child?

Yes! While we encourage you to be fully present at Summit and focus on you and your growth, we understand that circumstances sometimes don’t allow for that to happen. We don’t have child care onsite, but we welcome both you and your baby or young infant. 

Older children are also encouraged to attend with proper adult supervision.

What should I wear?

DO YOU BOO! Come as your fly Pinay self, whatever that looks like for you. If you feel fly in your Adidas tracksuit – do it. If you feel fly in your Lola’s mumu – wear it. Whatever your heart says to put on in the morning, please listen. We want to see you how you are! 

Will there be Coat Check?

Yes, and it’s complimentary 🙂

What should I bring with me?

Suggested items to bring:

  • A PHOTO for our altar of a woman, mentor, leader you want to call into the room for the day (you’ll take it home after)
  • a notebook/journal
  • pen
  • jacket/shawl in case you get cold inside
  • fan in case you get hot haha
  • tissues or handkerchief for tears (no joke…)
  • business cards!
